Today I teach children what really matters, sing to little ones when they play in the tub, act like there’s nothing to be afraid of, and dance with little partners to the radio. I work to settle the nastiest disputes, diagnose the most painful owies, write little love notes, and manage many different ‘do’s. I track allowances, listen to children to determine what makes them tick, and speak to them motivationally. I am a mother. And that’s everything I ever wanted to be.
First the trick. Stomach flu struck today. I am still wondering if I will be hit next. There are warnings! My poor babies were crying about no trick-or-treating. We cancelled our annual dinner with grandpa and trip to the cousin’s house and stayed in our neighborhood. The sickies will be hanging back at the doors.
Now the treat–my six babies: a bandit, a football player, Rocky Balboa, a ship hand on the Mayflower, a bee, and an Arabian princess. Their joy is truly infectious. Another treat has been having many more trick-or-treaters than usual.
The kids and I are really enjoying our study of the early settlers. We got to tour a replica of the Nina and treated the other visitors to our kids dressed up for the occasion. It’s amazing when you realize how God’s hand was on those early adventurers whose sole purpose in coming to America was to be free to worship Jesus Christ. Our broken microwaves, car troubles, and flu seasons cannot compare to the trials they endured. This November, I will be adding those men and women to my list of what I’m thankful for.
After more than a year of prayer and three months of intensive writing, So You’re Not Wonder Woman? is on sale! This book is proof that we have a Super Power who can do more than we can even imagine! There was definitely a time when I thought I could NOT get the book done in time for a speaking engagement in September.
I have been asked how I plan to sell these books. I expect that the Super Power who made the writing of the book possible will also handle the selling! Even if no one but me read it, I’d be glad I wrote it. I need to read this book again and again! It reminds me of the heroine I was created to be (that we were all created to be) and the mess I can become when I let Melanie run the show! The book is now available on Amazon:
