Some of my best Saturday memories are of enjoying cinnamon
rolls and hot chocolate with my dad at a restaurant. Because I’m able to enjoy
eating restaurant food again, I decided to start our practice of having special
time with one child on a Saturday. What a sweet way to start the day! My 7yo
and I enjoyed a tasty breakfast at Waffle House. I blogged more about that
experience on WonderWomen.
We enjoyed a sweet afternoon playing tennis and Frisbee golf
at the park and a sweet evening of homemade fries and wings.
My older boys were sweet to help me clean out the back
storage room after dinner and we enjoyed a sweet evening listening to our book
on tape while I gave haircuts. The savings I have from doing our family’s haircuts
(I taught myself using a book) are certainly sweet. Hope your day is sweet,
too!
I started giving haircuts to Tim recently to save. He always wants his hair really short and it was costing us over $30 a month. But he doesn’t understand that he needs to make an appointment with me too. He will wait till the worst possible moment and insist that he needs a haircut right that very minute or he will have to go get it cut. But I must say he is very brave. He has already had some funky cuts:)
I think the tradition of Saturday morning breakfast w/ one of your children each week is marvelous! I too remember breakfast out. Why is it that after all the dinners out we had as a family, I remember those special breakfasts at the diner with my dad. Hmmmmm.
