A Friend on the Radio

A Friend on the Radio

Phyllisfinal_new
I recently had the privilege of meeting with the staff of Woman to Woman, the radio program my friend Phyllis started more than a decade ago. One issue I brought to their attention was the fact that I couldn't find it on ITunes. I later found it by searching for Woman to Woman Phyllis Wallace. I was thrilled. I absolutely love being able to listen to Phyllis's soothing voice on my IPhone as she interviews interesting celebrities and experts from around the country (and even the world). I come away from every show educated, encouraged and energized! It helps that I listen to her while I work out. 🙂

After my mom, Phyllis has been my biggest fan and supporter. So many of the things I have done and experienced have been at her instigation. Yes, she's my friend, but via the radio, the Internet, and IPod, she can be your friend, too. She wants to be your fan and your supporter as she does what she does on radio so well. She wants to bring you the shows that speak to your heart and spirit. My favorite recent show of hers is "Say Good-bye to Your PDI (Personality Disordered Individual)." It is advice that is right on the money for free! Give her a listen and if you comment on her blog or send feedback via the website, tell her Mel sent you!

Seen Any Angels Lately?

When life is dreary and cold, that's when an angel appears unexpectedly to brighten your day. One of the things I look forward to most about heaven is learning when the angels were there that I didn't see.

Beauty and the Beast

IMG_2222
Believe it or not, I didn't set this up! We were visiting the new wing of a children's center in town and it was only when I was going through photos did I notice it said, "Beauty and the Beast" on either side of them. LOL Sorry to say, it's often true though they enjoy switching roles at times.

My daughter still has has times of screaming, "Fine!" and my baby still has plenty of times he just screams. But despite the beastly times, I feel like I'm living a fairy tale. I want to remember precious times like my 3yo's gestures to communicate he'd really rather I dress him. I want to remember little girl saying, "I love you all the way to Disney World." And I want to remember her response when I asked her, "How do you get to heaven?" We were having a good theological conversation and I wanted to make sure she understands that she can't ever be good enough to get to heaven on her own. Turns out she is much wiser than I as she answered, "To get to heaven, you have to die." LOL Well, we about died laughing. Hope you are enjoying some fairy tale living. Speaking of fairy tales, what's your favorite? Mine is probably Snow White.

Another Room Redo

My master bedroom has been done since last winter, but I'm just now getting around to blogging about it. I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's a big change going from a Victorian room to an African-themed room! My friends, Deb and Shannon, were a big help. Deb is a HomeGoods blogger so of course we collected some goodies for the room from there. It was my first trip there and I've really come to love it! I also love that I have quite a few authentic African pieces courtesy of my missionary sister-in-law. Even my friend Wendy helped out with the room. She sewed the blanket on the lounge chair. I'm sorry the pictures are a bit disorganized! The tiger in the room was evicted from my 10yo's sports-themed room. It's a bit much, I know, but the kids use him as a pillow when they hang out in our room.

Organization is in the Bag

Organization is in the Bag

At Christmas my mom had all her gifts loaded in a huge Aldi’s bag. When I commented on it she was aghast that I didn’t have one. Next trip to Aldi’s Zi bought a few. They are the biggest, strongest, most perfectly constructed bags you could ever buy for $1.99. I can fit a week’s worth of groceries into 4 bags and carry them to the house in 2 trips or less. Even if you don’t shop at Aldi’s or bag your own groceries, you need these bags! Their roomy rectangular shape us perfect for carrying books or beach stuff. And oh yeah, it’s better for the environment too. Organization is in the Bag
